Educators' Resource for Filmmaking in the Classroom
Premieres May, 2003

Studio B exists to help educators engage student learning, following the program outlined in the book and workshop series, The Director in the Classroom by filmmaker, Nikos Theodosakis.

Our goal is to provide educators with a comprehensive resource site to learn about filmmaking in order to incorporate the power of filmmaking into their teaching and learning.

It is a bridge between educators wishing to learn more about filmmaking and filmmakers wishing to share their knowledge and experience. And most importantly, it is always about how to use filmmaking skills and opportunities in the classroom to develop higher order thinking skills, enhance curriculum, create awareness, relevance and explore content in a fast-paced, 21st century digital environment.

Studio B Educator's Club...
provides access to valuable information including a library of articles, tips and techniques on filmmaking, continually up-dated list of resources, samples of student films and curriculm projects, as well as a Discussion Forum for educators to exchange ideas and information on filmmaking in the classroom.

Funding Success Story...

Piedmont High School Wins Technology Grant

When students of Piedmont High School wanted to bring filmmaking into their school, they had one major obstacle, no filmmaking equipment. Their solution was to borrow a video camera, and make a video about why filmmaking was an essential part of teaching and learning in the 21st century and why they should have the necessary equipment in their school. Their efforts won their school a $10,000 technology grant.

Here is their winning video!
