In addition to the benefits of receiving instruction via a real-time teleconference link, the participants of the videoconferencing version of The Director in the Classroom workshop meet all of the highest criteria for technology professional development as outlined by the Texas School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart.
The Texas STaR Chart is a tool for technology planning, budgeting for resources, and evaluation of progress in integrating technology into the school curriculum and infrastructure.

I. Early Tech	Whole Group	Presentation on the “Why” and the “How”
II. Developing Tech	Whole Group with Follow-up to facilitate implementation	Participants each receive their own password-protected access to the Director web site, and there, they share a production office with the two or three other members of their group.
III. Advanced Tech	Long term and ongoing professional development; involvement in a development/improvement process	Participants post their shot list, storyboards and even rough cuts for feedback This will happen over a one-month period, at their convenience.
IV. Target Tech	Creates communities of inquiry and knowledge building; anytime, anywhere learning available through a variety of delivery systems; individually guided activities	On the workshop web site, are additional resources, both online, offline, instructional materials, downloadable PDF’s of charts and forms for each step of the filmmaking process along with Discussion Forum for workshop participants. The web site also features a question/answer feature where participants receive direct feedback from Nikos.
